Group Therapy & Programs

Group therapy can be an effective and efficient method of helping individuals learn strategies and overcome the challenges that they face. Group therapy can be broken into two different types: Process groups and Psychoeducational groups.

Process groups are facilitated by trained therapists and allow clients to share their common struggles with other members and receive support, feedback, and encouragement. Psychoeducational groups provide members with information and teach strategies to help them become more skilled in navigating their personal struggles.

The trained facilitators at ECSS are able to offer group therapy on various topics including boundary setting, grief and loss, and emotion regulation. We also develop new groups based on specific client needs as they emerge.

Current group therapy offerings include our range of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) programs.

Assessments

ECSS Psychology offers a wide range of assessment services to meet a variety of client need areas. Assessments can open a window into understanding an individual’s cognitive, academic, emotional, and personal needs. Through identification of specific strengths, assessments can help inform appropriate interventions and supports required to improve their functioning and satisfaction with their lives.

We are able to assess both children and adults and to tailor assessments to a specific individual’s needs. We will also work with clients to consult on implementation of recommendations generated from an assessment.

ECSS Psychology’s assessment services include the following areas.

Intake

We encourage you to reach out to us to discuss you concerns and explore the ways in which we may be able to assist you.

When you contact our office, we ask you to provide an overview of your general concerns and the services you are requesting. You will then be contacted by a psychologist to discuss your concerns, participate in a brief intake, and review which services would be the best fit for you.

It is important to us that your therapist meets your needs and goals. To help ensure this fit, we offer a free 15-minute consultation if desired.

Cost of Services

Fees to therapy and assessment are based on an hourly rate of $220.00. These costs can be offset, at least in part, by third-party insurance plans (e.g., Blue Cross). Alberta Health does not cover payment for psychological services. We do not have a sliding scale for payment; however, payment options can be discussed with your therapist during the first session.
